Lothian Psychology Ltd is a Haddington based company offering psychological services. Broadly, the company has two arms – providing reports to courts and running psycho-education groups and therapy.  The company was initially set up as Lothian Psychological Assessments Ltd in 2015 and offered only a court report services to solicitors. Due to huge demand for psychological services for adults and young people the company changed to Lothian Psychology Ltd in September 2018.

Lothian Psychology was founded by Dr Louise Potter, Consultant Clinical Psychologist in July 2015. She is chartered by and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Dr Potter graduated from the University of Aberdeen with Honours in Psychology in 2001, then qualified as a Clinical Psychologist with a D.Clin.Psychol from the University of Edinburgh in 2007. Since then she has worked as a Clinical Psychologist with the National Health Service and continues to do so as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

Lothian Psychology was set up in 2015 to provide a full scope of assessments for the medico-legal community. The company recognised the need within the legal community for a top quality psychological assessment service and a shortage of qualified clinical psychologists willing to provide assessments. Lothian Psychology has a network of fully qualified clinical psychologists in different areas of specialism who can be called upon for their expertise. Dr Potter herself undertakes assessments primarily with adults. Her area of particular interest is attachment (parenting) and she has appeared at Sheriff Court’s across Scotland to give testimony as an Expert Witness in cases where parenting is being called into question. To date, Dr Potter has compiled a total of 17 Permanence reports and appeared in Sheriff court as expert witness on 5 occasions. A further 20 reports on various other aspects of parenting/attachment have also been submitted,
